If it weren’t for the supplements/nootropics/compounds I have or am taking, my YouTube channel (ForgeMastery) would not exist.
Frankly, none of my online businesses would exists. I would be making exactly zero Dollars online.
The difference is like night and day.
I have done my fair share of experimentation – all in an effort to enhance my state of mind and quality of life.
Some argue that whenever you consume something like a supplement or nootropic, you are cheating.
That you don’t NEED to take any supplements and should be able to motivate yourself to get the results you want.
I personally think that’s purely ego-talk.
Look, each person is different.
The idea that everyone’s brain chemistry is alike is completely ridiculous.
Everyone’s different – just because Person A is able to work 10 hours straight and Person B can’t motivate himself, doesn’t mean one is better than the other.
Person A might just have brain chemistry that naturally makes him feel more optimistic, motivated and driven. Of course, in our society we don’t ever look at it this way.
In reality it might be genetic, but society would say,
‘WOW, look at this guy. He is so motivated!’
As if it’s the person that is motivating himself, while it reality it happens automatically.
Some people are tall enough to be able to change the light bulb without the need of a chair. Others can’t possibly reach the light bulb.
Nobody would say that everyone is supposed to reach the light bulb – we recognize the genetic differences.
In terms of brain chemistry, those differences exist – they are simply not as obvious as height.
Anyway, so for me it’s all about looking at what’s working, what’s not working and then trying to fix that.
Before I ever consider supplements or nootropics, I look at the big 3:
I have always had the approach of considering all options.
Looking at the pros and cons – the risks and benefits – and then zooming in to what I need.
Here are the ones I’ve tried so far. Keep in mind, depending on where you live, some of these might not be legal in your country.
- Rhoadiola Rosea
- Valerian Root
- Salvia Divinorum
Through experimentation I’ve found for myself that stimulants work best. Caffeine for example works perfectly fine and gets me wired.
Modafinil doesn’t work any better than caffeine and neither does anything else I’ve tested so far.
However, I have also found that setting needs to be right.
Coffee or caffeine doesn’t magically work if I am in a bad mood, or don’t have the intent to do focused work.
Feel like even something as mundane as caffeine, setting is important. Like doesn’t magically work if I am bad mood, or not focused on work, etc.
Close The Gap
The reason why I am sharing all this isn’t because supplements or nootropics are going to magically solve all your problems and make your rich and famous.
Frankly, such a magic pill in the traditional sense doesn’t exist.
However, if we assume that
Mental State > Actions > Results
… then it’s also obvious that being able to change your mental state (such as feeling motivated) will change your actions and in turn create different results.
If you look at it this way, anything that puts you in a great state of mind can be considered a magic pill because indirectly it will lead you to create the desire results.
If you currently are in the situation I was in a few years ago – wanting to start an online business but feeling unable to get the necessary work done, then supplements/nootropics might be an option …
I can literally go from the mindset of
- This probably won’t work. I am not sure. What’s the point?
- Let’s do this! Whatever it takes!
All within 10 minutes of drinking coffee. For me, it’s coffee. For you, it might be something else.
Chances are there is something out there to help you be more productive, focused and successful – and to achieve all of that safely and without putting your health at risk.
Creating Your Stack
Figuring out what works for you takes months, if not years.
For the last 3 years, any time I’ve experimented with a new compound, I made an entry to my log.
Here’s what that looks like.
This allows me to track what works (what doesn’t) and the specific dosage or stack (= combination of compounds).
If you have questions about this, you can get in touch to schedule a consultation.
